Just a few random thoughts on using snow chains in Berkshire , England and the rest oft the UK
1 it is legal to use properly fitted snow chains , if your chains dont fit properly you could get done for something like careless driving if your vehicle was a danger to others
2 Properly fitted snow chains really do work , snow chains are nothing new , What happened in England is people forgot what real snow was like , in the past 30 yrs down here in the south ,the snow always went away after a day or 2 , last winter it didnt , a after a couple of days people started thinking Ive got to get to work
and they started googling and found snow chains maybe the answer
3 Local councils depend on salt to keep the roads clear , there is a shortage of salt , the council can not salt every road , so you may need some way to get your car to the salted roads , ta da Snow chains
4 Snow chains are easy to put on and take off , but you may need to crawl around on wet slushy snow to put them on and take them off , you may need to shovel some snow to do this , your hands can get very cold doing this so a good pair of gloves and something to neel/ lay down on would be very use ful
5 as with lots of things you get what you pay for, if you can afford the rolls royce of snow chains ,may be 3 - 4 hundred pounds get them , if youy cant you may be able to buy some cheap/ cheerful chains that will get the job done if you are very careful hoow you drive ,one important thing is knowing when to put them on and when to take them off , you may have to do this several times to complete your journey
6 more random thoughts later thanks for stopping by
